Lot's going on, as usual, here in Glen Ellen! After Meadow's pups found their perfect placements, Maxi, GRCH Bucky, and his daughters (CH Phemme is their dam) packed into a rented Tesla (thank you, Turo!) for an epic roadtrip. We drove from Glen Ellen down to Burbank for the night; packed up bright and early to drive to the California/Mexico border town of El Ysidro for a two day ABKC show. We had attended the same show the year before, and knew it would be a great event, and we definitely were not disappointed. ABKC shows are always so much fun, and this one was again at a pretty park, perfect weather and AWESOME competition.
Jolene and Diana showed as class dogs in the 1-2 year old female category against some beautiful girls. Jolene, as usual, continues to place above her sister Diana, but I think as Diana matures, she's going to eventually Champion. She's really a lovely and balanced little girl; she just needs to mature a bit, and it's hard sharing the stage with such a wildly gorgeous littermate. I believe in you, Diana! She'll get there...
Jolene walked away from the show only 10 point shy of her own Champion title... SO CLOSE. The second day of the show, we had to leave early to meet Max's dad in Los Angeles. We could have stayed chasing those last ten points (she has all her majors), but Max's birthday visit with his Daddy was more important.
GRCH Bucky, as always, astounds me in the ring. He won four out of his six Grand Champion classes, and as you can see in the photo above, he was quite proud of his accomplishments. I'll continue to show him for the joy and sport of it, but he's already met and exceeded any expectations I've had as his owner/handler. Best In Show would certainly be nice one day... ;)
After the show and a night in San Ysidro, we went to stay a night with family in Orange County and celebrated Max's 11th birthday. His dad and uncle took him to Universal Studios, his ultimate favorite theme park (thank you Sarah and Olivia for the passes!!) and we, again, hit the road to drive up the coast to Santa Cruz for the night. In the morning, I took Maxi to a birthday breakfast and a walk on the beach with the dogs in the charming little town of Santa Cruz. The Boardwalk rides were not open, but Max got to play in the arcade and even won a giant stuffed animal playing games. It was a PERFECT day.
We drove home that afternoon, weary, sandy and sore... but safe, happy to be home and stunned at the adventure we pulled off: Three dogs, an 11 year-old, and a Mommy in a Tesla for four days. What a hoot! The memories we are creating, all surrounding our dogs, is just incredible. I know I'll look back at this time when I'm old and grey and know I pushed myself to be Great and to give my kiddo & pups the very best I could.
Hugs and love from Glen Ellen,
Natale and the pack xxxx
